Hi,

Meet Reanette Etzler

The Strategic HR Coach

I'm Reanette Etzler, and I've spent three decades rebuilding broken HR functions across every industry you can imagine—retail, manufacturing, public sector, nonprofits, restaurants, and consulting. I'm also a former elected Vice Mayor, an SPHR and SHRM-SCP, and a John Maxwell certified coach, trainer, and speaker.

But titles don't tell the whole story.

I got into HR because I care about people—but I stayed in it because I refused to accept that HR's only role was enforcing policies and writing tickets for bad behavior. Too many HR professionals are stuck being organizational cops when they should be strategic partners driving business results. That gap—between what HR is and what HR could be—is what I've dedicated my career to closing.

The Journey

My path through retail taught me about operational excellence and customer experience at scale. Manufacturing showed me the power of process improvement and systems thinking. The public sector revealed the complexities of navigating politics while maintaining integrity. Nonprofits demonstrated mission-driven leadership under resource constraints. Restaurants? That's where I learned to make decisions fast and handle chaos with grace.

Every industry taught me something different about people, strategy, and organizational dynamics. And every role reinforced one truth: HR's value isn't measured by how well we enforce policies—it's measured by how effectively we drive business outcomes through people strategy.

I've been the only voice in the room willing to challenge executive decisions that would harm employees. I've navigated organizational politics without losing my integrity. I've survived some very difficult times in my life, and those experiences shaped both my resilience and my approach to HR. I'm not afraid to stand up, speak up, or have hard conversations—because that's what strategic HR leadership requires.

The HR Hangover Concept

The HR Hangover is real. It's that daily headache that comes from:

  • Systems that don't function properly

  • HR professionals who don't understand strategy

  • Organizations that treat HR like ticket writers and hall monitors

  • A culture of saying "no" instead of creating "yes"

  • Being stuck in transactional mode when you're capable of transformational impact

I've lived it. I've cured it. And now I help other HR professionals do the same.

What Makes Me Different

  • Business Language: Learned in corporate boardrooms where ROI isn't just nice to have - it's survival

  • Public Sector Strategy: Developed through elected office and municipal consulting

  • Entrepreneurial Thinking: Honed through franchise operations where every decision impacts the bottom line

  • AI Integration: Early adopter who sees technology as a strategic advantage, not a threat

My Mission: Curing HR Hangovers Everywhere

Here's what I believe: HR professionals are some of the smartest, most capable business leaders I know. The problem isn't your talent - it's that nobody taught you how to think and speak strategically in language that executives understand.

  • Moving from reactive to proactive

  • Speaking the language of business outcomes, not just HR metrics

  • Building strategic thinking capabilities across organizations

  • Leveraging technology (including AI) to free HR from administrative quicksand

  • Creating employee experiences that drive competitive advantage

  • Developing leaders who actually lead

The IMPACT Model (Integrate, Measure, Partnership, Align, Create, Transform) is the framework I use to make this transformation real—not theoretical.

Personal Philosophy

I believe HR professionals are some of the most resilient, capable people in any organization—but too many are stuck in roles that don't let them use their full capabilities. Strategy isn't just for executives. Every HR professional can learn to think strategically, communicate in business terms, and drive real organizational results.

It takes courage to stand up and challenge the status quo. It takes resilience to keep pushing when organizations resist change. But it's worth it—because when HR transforms, entire organizations transform.

You didn't get into HR to be the organizational cop. You got into it to make a difference. Let's DISRUPT normal!
